If you've found your way here, you may already know that my name is Bill and I enjoy writing songs about God. If you did not know that, well now you do. I hope to be faithful with the songs I write. I'm not sure I know how to do that, but I think this website is a start. It contains the lyrics, chord charts, mp3's, even the stories behind the songs. And it is all free to you. So look around. Enjoy. And thanks for stopping by.

More to Bring

download chord chart // download mp3

(verse)
You saw me ashamed and clothed me with joy
You heard me cry and made me dance
Now my heart is filled with Your song
and I know, that I can no longer be silent

(chorus)
I want to, I long to, I'm gonna worship You
I hear You, I fear You, I wanna be near to You
I wanna show You, bow down before You
My King, I sing, but I wish I had more to bring

(Recorded April 2001 at Central Christian Church in Las Vegas, NV.)

-------------------------------------------------------

Ladies and gentlemen...this is officially my first attempt at writing a worship song.

It was back in 2000. I was leading worship in Las Vegas for a group of Junior Highers. Every week, they would come in and worship their hearts out. I knew that they meant every word they sang, but I often wished we could do more together to express our worship than simply sing.

My fear was that both the students and myself would get lulled into the assumption that 'worshiping = singing'. I wanted to do more together, but didn't know what we could do. Out of that frustration came this song.

I had been meditating on Pslam 30:11-12 which says,

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

I love those words; what beautiful and humble praise. Obviously, the verse of 'More to Bring' came straight from that psalm.

Then one Saturday night I driving home after a worship service. That night, the worship time was good...but it left me feeling like we could still do more in expressing our worship. Our songs just didn't feel like enough anymore. I began softly singing, "I wish I had more to bring...my King, I sing but I wish I had more to bring." From there the rest of the chorus took shape.

Its funny to look back at the first worship song I penned. It certainly is nothing spectacular. And now, it sounds a bit dated. But I am in no way embarrassed by it. I meant it when I wrote. And I still mean it.

After all that God has done for me, trading in my sackcloth for clothes of joy, I will always wish I possessed the ability to do more in expressing my gratitude and love for Him.
